Here’s what we hope you see when you look around our website:

A wealth of information and fun-tivities that have been compiled for you -- phonogram hunts, books to read with your children, songs to sing, ways to “animate” the rhymes, vocabulary words, and much more that fit into your schedule and are fun to do.

What you may not see is what lies  “below the surface.”
Wordy Worm™ Reading is sensitive to and inclusive of a variety of learning styles:

auditory; visual; and kinesthetic (movement).  Although it concentrates on the phonograms, the wide range of activities has been carefully crafted to include the components of literacy:  phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing. Plus learning is motivated and relevant, thus expanding present knowledge and encouraging a desire and curiosity about learning which will lead your children to become life-long learners.

Deeper yet, are the memories that are created and the way relationships are deepened. It may sound corny; but it’s true.  On a rainy afternoon, for instance, you can  put a video on for your visiting grandchildren or, instead, have an afternoon of fun learning “phonogram ei” while making "weird beigh shirts"  with paints, beads, and so much more.

But, at the very core of Wordy Worm™ Reading,

we hope you reflect on and embrace your position as the primary influence on your children’s literacy experiences.

To support you in this, we provide you with the information, resources, and strategies to foster your confidence and commitment.  This does not diminish the role of teachers and curricula at school.  It simply underscores that YOU are the constant teacher in your children’s lives.

At the end of each school year,  you do not give them a hug,  wish them well, and say good-bye.

You are together, year after year, every step of the journey!
